Hello togehter,
we are using VMWare at work, but I am the Guy for the VMs and not for the ESX Servers and so want to play with ESXi at home a little.
My home Computer is mainly used for Gaming and Office and I want to Upgrade it o Haswell.
I don´t want to host something big and just want to play with ESXi basics on that Computer.
As I read here You can not install ESXi on K CPU´s because of its missing VT-d Feature. But also Intel doesn't support VT-d officially with the chipsets H87 and X87, even if The CPU support it.
But as I read below George_ccsp was able to install ESXi with a non K Haswell on an X87 Gigabyte Board.
i7-4770K Haswell core - ESXi5.1 hang on "initializing IOV"
I don´t want to use VT-d. I just want to be able to install ESXi on a Haswell non K CPU. So my Quenstion. Who installed ESXi on which X87/H87 Haswell Board successfully?
(especially MSI Boards).
Thank You
Edit: Or maybe I can use also a Haswell K CPU with the new ESX 5.5 (No need for Directed I/O).
I found no information about that. Are there any experiences here?
