ESXi - Time to enter "Edit boot options" or "Recovery mode"

is it possible to extend the time at the ESXi start to enter one of these options?

Yes.

You need to edit your syslinux.cfg file and add/edit a line with a timeout parameter

timeout 200

This would give you a timeout of 20 seconds, the value is in 1/10ths of a second.

well, try another solution.

Modify rc.local or local.sh (e.g. by WinSCP) adding this command:

sleep X

where X specifies number of seconds for sleep...

Just to clarify, are you talking about the recovery/edit options when you boot from an installation ISO?

Are you able to get a screenshot or photo of the screen you mean?

I misunderstood your original post thinking you were still on ESX which had a Linux service console.

I just rebooted my virtual ESXi 5.1 host and don't see any option to edit boot options it goes straight into the kernel load.
