Hello Everyone,
I am trying to setup a small lab at home. This is what I did.
1. Installed VM workstation 7.
2. Install ESXi 4.0.
3. Installed VC 4.0 and added the ESXi 4.0 to VCenter server.
4. Tried to install ESX 4 (2nd host) not ESXi, using ESX ISO. But only ESXi is getting installed. I have verified ESX ISO is correctly mounted.
Tried everything that I could think off,
1. Removed ESXi host.
2. Removed Esxi Iso from system.
3. Uninstalled VM workstation (left only license of it).
4. Searched for any reference of ESXi ISO, nothing found, still there is some reference of it in my machine coz of which ESXi is getting triggered.
Pls share if you have any suggestions! I want to install ESX as I don't prefer ESXi after installing it, with ESXi the options are limited. Though I know how to crack hidden service console.
Thanks,
-Ravi
I think high chance is that the wrong iso is being used for the ESX installation. Please take note that the ISO for ESX 4.1 is esx-DVD-4.1.0-260247.iso

Which options are you talking about? I assume you know that ESX will not be continued in the future and you will have to switch to ESXi anyway.

No need to crack anything. For ESXi 4.0 it's well documented in the Knowledge Base and for 4.1 it's officially supported to enable console access from the GUI.
