Hi Community,
I have the situation, that one of my ESXi Host, is sometimes nocht reachable from my vCenter. So I cannot reach the ESXi Host by ping from the vCenter. If I make a ping from my client I can reach the ESXi Host.
If I'm connected with SSH or vSphere (from my client) I can manage the Host, so I have restartet the management Network -> Did not help
- /etc/init.d/hostd restart
- /etc/init.d/vpxa restart
and I tried this
-services.sh restart
and I tried to restart the Managment Network by the DCUI
I also restarted the vCenter Server -> Did not help
I also checked the Firewall etc, but there were no changes! (the other Host at the Cluster is connected)
And I can ping the VM's which are running at the ESXi Host, which is not reachable.
Thanks for some Idea
Marius
Hi Marius,
So if that host was previously added to vcenter server, Is it now showing disconnected when you see from vc??
Thanks,
Amz
Hello MariusEl,
are you running the vCenter Appliance oder are you running a Windows Server with vCenter?
- which version of vCenter / vSphere are you running?
- are all your hosts the same patch version?
-. have you checked your Management Switch Ports / Mgmt NIC(s)
regards
Hi Amz,
the ESXi host is shown as disconnted.
And I cannot reconnect, because only from the vCenter Server I cannot reach the Host but from all other systems!

Marius
Hi Bone,
it is a windows vCenter Server.
vCenter is 5.5 also the vSphere Client!
both Hosts have the same Patch level (ESXi 5.5.0 - 2718055)
Switch Ports looks ok

Marius
check your Network/Firwall setting again. -> Port 902 / UDP
also check these
I have a question , is there any different VLAN configured for Management network and VM network ?
-Make sure that VLAN is configured properly for ESXi management network.
-Try swapping NIC for management port.
- If nic0 and nic1 are selected, try checking each nic by disabling other from DCUI.
Thanks!
