ESXi - Host IPMI System Event Log

Hi Guys,

I have an ESXi 5.5 installed on HP BL460c server. I am getting alarm on ESXi host "Host IPMI System Event Log Status" continuously. I have gone through VMware KB 1033725 but the logs are not clear. Please suggest if anything else need to be done.

Hi there,

we are facing the same issue, so I developed a script to help you alleviate this issue: https://vmxp.wordpress.com/2014/11/20/host-ipmi-event-status-alarm-powercli-fix/

it's just a workaround though, there is no information as to what could cause this Smiley Sad

Hi

As i understand you see the alerts in vcenter.  Please confirm the below to isolate if the issue is with the host or vcenter

1)Could you take a direct vsphere client session to the host and see if you see the same alert. is the hardware status good?

2)Are you able to see any hardware errors in ILO system event logs and hardware status in ilo?

Please confirm

Hi Emmanuel,

As suggested, I checked to the ESXi host by directly connecting using vSphere and there is not "Hardware Status" tab but when I checked in the "Tasks & Events" tabs. I didn't found any events with "Host IPMI system Event Log", which is observed while connecting to the vCenter using vSphere client.

secondly, I connected to the iLO of the ESXI host and the health status observed is Green. So seems there is no issue on the ESXi hosts. but would like to know the reason for the alerts appearing on the ESXi host continuously, when I connect to the vCenter Server.
