ESXi Error After Upgrade

Just updated 2 of our Dell servers from ESXi 6.0 to 6.5. Other than a VIB conflict the upgrade went through fine without errors.

I started all the VM's on the first server successfully and then went to go do the same on the second server however none of the VM's start. The error coming up in the ESXi web GUI is

"Failed – Transport (VMDB) error -45: Failed to connect to peer process."

I have tried rebooting the host which hasn't helped. I tried unregistering one of the VM's and re registering it and that didn't help either. I've checked the logs and done a google search and couldn't really find much.

Anyone come across this before?

Might be an issue with ESXi unlocker tool.

try the attached link - https://idmedia.no/uncategorized/transport-vmdb-error-45-upgrading-esxi-6-5/

This seems to be related to space, if you have another shared datastore then migrate on of VM to it and check by powering on.

Additionally upload /var/log/vmkernel.log here and check VMFS volumes space on ESXI with command vdf -h
