ESXi 8.0 updating to build 21203435 error VMware_locker_tools- light

Starting from a Dell image 8.0.0 build 20374953, when I try to update I am getting the following error:

This upgrade transaction would skip ESXi Base Image VIB(s) VMware_locker_tools- light_12.1.5.20735119-21203431, which could cause failures post upgrade. Please use an alternative upgrade method that would install the above VIB(s).

I am looking for any troubleshooting suggestions.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

What method are using for the upgrade? Through vCenter with a baseline or cluster image?

Or from the ESXi host with esxcli? What's the exact command then?

I am doing it from the ESXi host using:

esxcli software vib update -d "filepath/filename"

I was able to overcome this error with:

esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-8.0b-21203435-standard -d "filepath/filename"
