ESXi 7 hardware compatibility

Hello,

I'm new to the community, in VMware ESXi and in the IT in general. I'm not sure if I am posting this on the right forum but...

Recently I've started to work on Cisco and FortiNet because I want to get their respective certifications. Because I need to work on their hardware it was suggested to get a server and install VMs to work with. 

I've found a Supermicro MB H12DSI-N6 and an Epyc 7282 but I can't find out if the ESXi 7.0 can run with this MB. At the compatibility guide the motherboard isn't listed. I don't care for official hardware certification or support; this is going to be a home lab server and if encounter any hiccups I know I'm going to be on myself for the most part. I just want to know if I can install the ESXi on this hardware configuration or should I look for something else?

I'm sure that for home lab purposes this will be good configuration. CPU is supported. However, MB isn't but that shouldn't be a problem.

Before installation check if NICs and storage controller are supported on ESXi 7.

You could always use a Type 2 Hypervisor like Workstation 17 Pro for £120 and spin up as many VMs as the laptop can handle

For personal use, download the iso and test it:

Before the installation is going to write to the disk, the installer is going to check your hardware. In case of some incompatibilities, a warning or error message will apear. During that phase, no modification is done to your system, because installer is loaded into memory.
