ESXi 7 free licence Vsphere client / resource pools

Hi Mind hive,

I just upgraded my whitebox hardware to ESXi 7 - with a free licence.

Am i wrong that there is no dedicated Vsphere client anymore for this version?
I can manage the server through the webinterface, though.

What also surprises me is the impossibility to make resource pools - which worked fine under ESXi6.

Or am i missing out on something?

Thanks in advance,

Stefferd

Hi @Stefferd ,

vSphere client, standalone client or the thick client is all gone with vSphere 6.0. It's all from the web interface now.

To create resource pool, the ESXi host must be added to vCenter server.

Hope that helps

Hi Ashilkrishnan,

Thanks for the reply. In my case upgrading to ESXi 7 does actually mean a downgrade in functionality then, since a Vcenter licence is out of the scope of my home lab.

 Thanks for the info.

Regards,

Stefferd
