Is anyone else having this problem with ESXI 7 (7.0.1)?
I completely wiped out this brand new HP ML350 Gen10 box (8 drives, 2 RAIDs, 1 microSD, etc) and started from scratch. Same problem. Very confusing.
PS: I "re-register" the 2 VMs after each reboot.
Hi @GraSmi9 ,
It can be a datastore issue. If it is taking to come online post ESXi host reboot. Are you saying that this is happening only with 7.0.1 ?
What is the state of local datastore post ESXi reboot ?
What is the state of these VMs before ESXi host is rebooted ?
Try reload vmx before trying to re-register VM --> Reloading a vmx file
Ensure that the raid controller has the latest driver and firmware
Yes, only 7.01 and only on 1 Host.
Datastores are there after boot and that's where I go to re-register.
VMs are fine before reboot (2 Win2019 Servers that I've patched, etc).
Discussion moved to ESXi Discussions
I have downloaded the custom OEM HP VMware ESXi install file (from My VMware) and installed it over the ESXi that was on the microSD card in this HP ML350 Gen10 box. Here's why I did so...
All of my other VMware single server HOSTs look like pic#1 (attached). This new HOST looks like pic#2 (see next reply). Notice the odd (to me) looking RAID controller listed under storage. I normally don't see that. I usually just see the two datastores I create.
So, after doing so, now ONE of the two VMs is listed in inventory after HOST reboot. The second is not. (previously neither was listed in inventory after reboot).
The RAID controller has THE most current firmware..
HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 | 3.00 | Embedded RAID |
Any help would be appreciated. It's very confusing.
Hi @GraSmi9 ,
Please browse the datastore and check if the VM folders and files exist. If yes, select the file name ending with .vmx and register it to inventory
I have re-registered the VM/VMs (they do exist in the datastore) numerous times. They just (and now only one) disappear from inventory after HOST reboot on this one HOST.
See the pics. Something is weird about the RAID controller.
Hello, I have exactly the same issue using esxi 7.01 on local SSD storage and Dell servers.
After a host reboot, all VMS appear unregistered....
