ESXi 7.0U2a (and 7.0U3d) PSOD's with thin provisioned VM's

I recently installed two new servers in my lab with ESXi 7.0U2a and started getting random PSOD's.  After a while I noticed there was a pattern (now confirmed) that these PSOD's only happen when I have VM's with thin provisioned disks running.

When I started I installed 7.02 due to the issues at the beginning of 7.03 but this seems quite similar as the issue there was with the earlier versions of 7.03 a while ago (https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/86128).
I tried upgrading to the latest 7.03(U3d) but this has exactly the same isue.

Is this still a bug or am I facing other issues?

System: Supermicro X12SPM-LN6TF / Intel Scalable Silver 4314 / 128GB Samsung DDR4 / 2x Samsung PM9A3 NVME (VMD Raid 1).
Installed with the Intel VMD Driver for ESXi 7.0 off the VMWare website.

Problem:

ESXi OS vmkernel crashed with Page Fault (init 14) at function "volume_raid1_request_start" in driver "intel-nvme-vmd".

The buggy Intel NVME VMD driver is crashing the ESXi OS and the Intel NVME VMD driver belongs to Intel.

Solution:

1. Please update the latest Intel NVME VMD driver for ESXi 70 and check the crash again.

2. Raise a bug with VMware and Intel.

Thanks,

Rajiv
