ESXi 7.0 patching

Hello all,

I have a doubt that is:

I' running Lenovo server with custom image 7.0U2a. I need to patch it to 7.0U3c. My question is should i use the 7.0U3c depot file available on Vmware patching downloads or i must use the 7.0U3c custom image from Lenovo?

Thanks.

Regards.

Hi @Petersaints

You have a standalone esx host - right?

You can update your host through cli with

esxcli software profile get|update

This update will not replace your lenovo specifiy packages, but will also not update them. You should use the lenovo specific bundle to update all installed packages.

Lenovo recommends using the custom since it contains certified drivers, support for Lenovo  tools, and its tested. I don't think there would be a problem going non-Lenovo if you wanted, but its nice they have it all setup for you so take advantage of that.
