ESXi 6 and Intel Core i7 5775c = PSOD MCE

Hi,

ive got a new Intel Core i7 5775c on an ASUS Z97k board. Yes, i have updated to the latest BIOS and ESXi version and YES, i know that this mainboard is not supported by VMWare. Its my home lab for testing purposes only. Everything were fine with my old core i 5 4560t CPU. after switching to the 5775c i got PSOD MCE errors all the time, mostly when i use one of my Ubuntu's. switching back to the old cpu = everything fine again. So the only possible opportunity is the new CPU. Ive sent it back and got a new 5775c. Same problem! are there any know bugs with this cpu?

thank you!

There are known bugs with every CPU. 🙂  This one currently has about 83 of them. See http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/specification-updates/desktop-mobile-5th....

The low 16 bits of the machine check status register are 0x0400, which indicates "Internal Timer Error."  This could potentially be related to Intel erratum BDD6.
