ESXi 6 Stateless Autodeploy Hosts and TCPIP6

Hi,

Has anyone managed to successfully disable TCPIPv6 on a stateless autodeployed host. Every time I attempt to either modify the profile and change the following

> kernel module configuration  --> tcpip4   --> kernel module parameter--> ipv6-->value change from 0 to 1 ( type 0) and in ip address settings  set user must explicitly chose the policy option.

Or disable the setting on the host with

esxcli network ip set --ipv6-enabled=false

I cannot write back a profile?

ipv6 must be enabled by kernel

ipv6 must be enabled by kernel

ipv6 must be enabled by kernel

ipv6 must be enabled by kernel

ipv6 must be enabled by kernel

We are using...

ESXi Version 5.5 Update 3 a.

Thanks!

Hi,

The answer is as follows...

Ensure you configure the following options for all VMKernel adapters in your host profile

Networking Configuration > Host virtual NIC > vDS Instance : Switch Name : dvPortGroup-iSCSI-1 > IP address settings > Enable IPv6 Address via Router advertismentsUser must explicitly choose the policy option
Networking Configuration > Host virtual NIC > vDS Instance : Switch Name : dvPortGroup-iSCSI-1 > Enable IPv6 Address via DHCPUser must explicitly choose the policy option

As well as the kernel module

Kernel Module Configuration > Kernel Module > tcpip4 > ipv6 > Module Parameter Settings
Nameipv6
Value

0

The profile can then be saved!

Yes, those are the two articles I used. Neither works with 5.5U3a in our environment. It has not been possible to disable IPv6 on stateless autodeployed hosts.
