ESXi 6 Major problems with adding datastore

I have tried to play with ESXi 6.0 on multiple occasions but it seems that even the most basic steps to add a local disk as datastore is proving to be extremely problematic. To preface the problem, I have 2 Micron M550 1TB SSDs local to the host, and I had them previously partitioned and functioning without problems in ESXi 5.5. I have since tried to upgrade to 6.0, and to start fresh, I attempted to re-partition the disks. This step used to take about 30s-1m in 5.5 but in 6.0 it just completely hangs. I am seeing these errors in the vmkernel.log and looking them up online has yet to have yielded with any working solutions.

My system is running on a SuperMicro X10DRL-I, E5 2620 V3, 32GB DDR4, Intel PRO/1000 VT, Intel X520-DA, IBM 5016. The disks are connected to the onboard Intel SATA ports.

Hey,

I have the same issue, i got around the problem by creating the DS as 100GB, then extending to 200, 300 etc etc. If i went for a full partition the system locked up.

‌Hi Jimm

is the X10DRL-i working with ESX 6 finally? Did you resolve all problems ?
