Hello,
I have an environment with 2x HP DL360 Gen8 in a cluster. I recently upgraded my vCenter & hosts from 6 to 6.5 Patch 1.
Recently I started having problems with some VM's losing their network connection. When I go check the IP settings in the VM there is no problem but they are not pingable. The only solution I have found is to edit the VM settings, disconnect the NIC and reconnect and the NIC and the VM is pingable again.
I have been googling what the cause could be but I cannot seem to find anything, only VM's losing connection after a vMotion but that's not the case.
Anyone else experienced this kind of problem?
I could update my hosts to 6.5 U1 but when I upgraded the U1 was not available yet.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Michael
Hi Micheal,
please check if this happens to specific adapter, for example the e1000 or the VMXNET3.
If it only happens on one adapter change the adapter to the working one as a quick workaround.
Tim
Hi Tim,
All the network adapters are VMXNET3. Also I'm trying to find a link why it happened to certain VM's and not all.
Also I checked I have ESXi version 6.5 patch 1 and not the latest update 1. I already upgraded my vCenter to 6.5 Update 1. I will update my hosts to Update 1 too and check if the problem persists.
Kind regards,
Michael
Let us know how you go and whether the latest update solves the problem.
Is your issue occurring after a vmotion? Or is it just randomly happening to VM's that have not had any changes?
Disconnecting the N/W adapter and reconnect it make the same difference if you vMotion a VM and the issue is with vLAN configurations and you are using nic teaming.
Are you using nic teaming and vLANs.. if not even I would like to see the results after the upgrade.
