Recently upgraded a number of hosts to ESXi 6.5. Cannot find a way to mount our RDMs back to these systems with the local (ESXi web client).
Does anyone know if the ADD RDM Disk has been removed from ESXi 6.5?
HI ,
You can check on the Data store where the VM is located .
Number of HDD available on your VM + other vmdkfiles available on DS or any other DS that could you be RDM
you may identify them by adding by selecting existing HDD by browsing .
Example
VM with 2 HDD and 3 RDM you can find 5 VMdk files
VM.vmdk - HDD 0
vm_1.vmdk - HDD 1
vm_2.vmdk - RDM mounted
vm_3.vmdk - RDM mounted
vm_4.vmdk -RDM mounted
Thank you for responding. However, the function is missing from the 6.5 web client. When you login directly to an ESXi host, edit the VM, and try to add an RDM disk, there is no function to do so. I have a VM with a boot VMDK, trying to add three LUNs as RDM and there is no visible way to do so.
Cannot find a way to mount our RDMs back.
When you say "back", do you mean that you unmounted RDMs before the upgrade and now trying to mount them back? Just trying to better understand the scenario.
Hi,
6.5 web client also having same function .
Add New Device - > You can RDM / Existing Disk
First you have to verify that RDM mapping file there by browsing the datastore
