ESXi 6.0 no network adapter were detected

Hi boys Smiley Happy

First of all my computer is Dell Inspiron 3521, Windows 8.1

I couldn't install ESXi because of "no network adapter were detected" error. I tried install  iso from dell support site but the problem still ocurs I tried several versions. I also tried to do my own iso with ESXi Customizer but still doesn't work. I have no idea what can I do more.

Could you help me, please? Smiley Happy

Check the NIC is on the supported list, if it's not on the list it won't show up.

What are you installing ESXi onto inside Windows ?

You're right, I'll try install it on VM workstation, and I let to know you how it's going.

Hi Emily,

Please do check your hardware in listed under the vmware HCL.

I found that different versions of ESXi support different hardware and you may get lucky with upgrades. For instance v5.1 supported my RealTek NICs but v5.5 didn't but if I did an upgrade from v5.1 to v5.5 it kept the drivers and they continued to work. Unfortunately the upgrade to v6.0 didn't work and they no longer appear in the DCUI.

Came across a similar issue when upgrading from 5.5. Try enabling ipv6 if you have it disabled. Likely not the solution, but worth a shot
