ESXi 5.x performance testing

Hi Guys,

I have 2 new ESXi 5.x environments using 2 separate storage backends for datastores (NFS).  I would like to do some performance testing on these 2 environments to see how they compare to each other.  I have not done this before and was wondering if there are any vmware products that help with this or maybe some freeware software that I can use to run these tests (IOPS etc).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Sim

You can check storage performance in vSphere environment by using "IO Analyzer" tools: I/O Analyzer – VMware Labs

esxtop  will give you a detailed report of memory,CPU,IOPs,storage usage. As this is just a command, no need of additional tools.

It is just same as top in Linux.

If you want to compare two esxtop output, perfmon will do that. This works in any windows.

You can download it @ Download Performance Monitor Wizard from Official Microsoft Download Center

Just have a look @ How to analyze and compare two or more ESXTOP logs with perfmon - viktorious.nl - Virtualization &am...

Thanks Davoud.  That was exactly what I was looking for and the IO Analyzer works for me.
