ESXi 5 - 60 days trial - how to apply license?

Hi there,

Does anyone know how to apply license key to ESXi 5?

I downloaded and installed ESXi 5 (free), obtained a license key from VMWare web-site, but have no clue how to assign this license key to a host!

Every time I open Client, I'm getting a license expiration notice:

ESXiLic.jpg

When I click on link, it redirects me to:

https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/p/activate.php?p=vmware-vsphere5-ent&lp=default

But, again, nothing regarding how to apply this license key. Smiley Happy

Btw, I'm a newb in ESXi.

At our company we mostly use VM Ware WS for development. So, it's my first experience with ESXi. Smiley Happy

Please, help.

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Welcome to the Community - I assume you have downloaded the vSphere Client from your ESXi host - Connect to your ESXi host with the client and select the configuration tab - one of the options on that tab is a license option and that is where you will be able to enter the key -

David,

Thank you for your help, I found it.

Originally I did not notice "Edit..." link on the right top corner.

Thanks again for the fast help,

Wow, thanks pointing that out guys... that "edit" link on the upper right corner from Home->Inventory->Configuration is NOT very obvious.

I'm experiencing a weird issue, I see no Licensing icon under administration in vsphere client. I see roles, and system logs no licensing option. New Bitmap Image (2).jpg

Please always open a new discussion rather than posting a question to an old discussion.

Anyway, on a single host you don't have licensing on the "Home" page. To edit/enter the license key, select the ESXi host in the Inventory, click the "Configuration" tab followed by the "Licensed Features" link. There you can click the "Edit.." link to enter the license key.

Life Saver, I had the exact same issue, struggled quite a bit watching my Eval and all the hard work diminish in number of days, googled quite a bit before I found this, Thanks!!! I wish a FAQ is made on this topic, because I had to do quite a bit of googling to find the correct solution.

I think it's very clear

Licensing ESXi 5.0 and vCenter Server 5.0
