Hi all, as subject really. I've been troubleshooting an issue where, when adding a remote host to vCenter, that host them proceeds to disconnect within seconds.
At first I thought it was my firewall rules, but I've sorted that and I have no ACL denies on them anymore.
I can connect to the host just fine using the Windows-based vSphere client, so I just don't understand it.
What sort of information do I need to add to this post to help you guys help me?
P.S. fairly new to VMware.
Thanks, Mark
Thanks for the tips....it led me to the fix, which was this VMware KB: Using NAT between the vCenter Server system and ESXi/ESX hosts
My vCenter was behind a NAT firewall which was causing the problem.
Hope this helps others.
One reason could be the DNS configuration. Can you confirm that the ESXi host can resolve the vCenter Server's name and vice versa?
If DNS works properly, you may want to check the vpxa.log file on the vCenter Server (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2032076)

Thanks.
DNS was not working properly - now fixed that, but it's still not working.
Host disconnects within 30 seconds of connect. I have the vpxa.log in front of me but no idea what I'm looking for.....any tips?
Check if helps: VMware KB: ESXi/ESX host disconnects from vCenter Server 60 seconds after connecting
Note that port UDP 902 should be open on both directions.
