Hi guys,
last week i set up our new esxi server.
Following problem:
the users can only login with intern.xxx.de\User1.User1
Normally it should work with the short name of the Domain: XXX\user1.user1
If the user types the short name xxx\user1.user1 the credentials work...
So our users actually can't use single sign on.
any ideas to fix the problem?
thanks!
Hi and welcome to the communities,
did you join a single ESXi server to the domain? Or did you use a vCenter and added your domain as an identity source to VMwares SSO?
Tim
Hi,
thank you 🙂
There is no vCenter running, stand alone esxi server with vsphere standard license
Ok,
please take a look at the hostd log: /var/log/hostd.log
failed logins are loged there, maybe you can find a hint there
No failed login in the log file. only shows successful logins/logouts 😕
Did you add the domain to your ESXi? Check this article below
Joining vSphere Hosts to Active Directory | VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs
if we say use windows credentials it doesn't work.(XXX/Username)
if he types the Windows credentials writing style - it works (XXX/Username)
if he types the fqdn of the domain before the username - it works (intern.xxx.de/Username)
So it is a SSO problem.
The host is joined the domain with help of vmware article.
SSO is not involved in this case because you are not using vCenter. Did you create DNS records for your host?
SSO is working on our old server without vcenter too - why is this not working with 5.5? any changes?
dns records exist.
