I had problems with VMs which let me reboot the host.
Then I got a pink screen while booting. I assumed HD
errors, but disk check gave no errors. Then I copied
the HDD to another one without errors, but the new copy
crashes as well.
Any hints are welcome, Thanks in advance.

and thanks for your answer. But I think it is not the solution in my case.
It was no fresh installation, but was running for months (years?).
A fresh installation will destroy the settings at least, and the VMs on
that disk as well, i believe. I hope to be able to preserve or restore the
settings.
