ESXi 5.5 and vCenter managing different hosts

Hello all,

I currently have a 2 host environment running on HP Proliant DL260P gen 8 servers.  I am speccing out another possible 2 host servers.  However HP has discontinued these servers.  My question is:  Is there a best practice to stay w/ the same host for a cluster environment and find the same type/model server from a reseller or should I move on to the DL360 gen 9?  Is there an issue w/ using different server models or does it not matter as long as the processor is in the same family?

Hi,

It's recommended that use same servers model (CPU), same HBA adapter and network adapter in a cluster. But you can use different server and you have to change some parameters on HBA drivers such as Queue Depth and you have to enable EVC on your cluster.
