From the build number this is 5.5 Update 2 (or later). Sounds pretty familiar to me, see discussion here: HP Proliant DL380e Gen8, HP OEM VMWare ESXi 5.5 Update 2 keeps crashing (PSOD)

and similar problem here Re: HP ProLiant DL380e Gen8 - ESXi 5.5.0 build 2143827 - PSoD

For me the only solution was to go back to 5.5 Update 1. It looks like that the hpvsa driver -90 is not fully compatible to Update 2 version kernel.

Have you used the HP customized installation image? You may try to install the latest hpvsa -92 driver (March 2015) first to see if that works.

And check if the BIOS and firmware levels are up to date (e.g. install latest SPP).

Thanks for the reply

I was just reading your thread...all 7 pages....

None of the BIOS settings worked for you ?

I will try the driver

Never tried shift r to roll back to update 1, any issues or concerns doing that ?

SHIFT+r only works if Update 1 or a smaller build was installed before and working.

If the version/build installed before also had this issue it's of no use to go SHIFT+r. You have to do a fresh install of Update 1 in that case.

Generally there are no issues with SHIFT+r, did this on 2 completely different machines and it worked.

I tried a LOT of BIOS settings with no luck. The server is now running in "HP static high performance mode" with Update 1 version and no further issues since I went back.

Hi guys,

since HP SPP 2015.04.0 is out (link: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_8f34f27973a04a71b211d728ab) , have you tried upgrading your servers with that package to see if you still keep getting the crashes?

Thanks for the info, just found that myself. Already upgraded the system ROM/BIOS and iLo firmware. Will try to update HP ESXi during the weekend.

The HP customized 5.5 U2 installation image also got an update with latest drivers
