ESXi 5.5 Network Interface limit

Is there a way to configure a VM with more than 10 network interfaces?  I have a VM running Arista vEOS that I would like to test some control scripts.  I do not want to use the interfaces but want to configure them and change parameters on the fly.  I tried altering the vmx file but when I add more than 10 interfaces the VM does not recognize them.
