ESXi 5.5 Host is grayed out

ESXi 5.5 host is grayed out in virtual center but I can ping the host and all the virtual machines and the virtual machines are working fine.

When I restarted the management network from the host console sometimes it start working fine in VC but again it grays out.

Right Click on the host and try to click on connect and re-connect the host using root credentials.

If that does not work Right click on host and select Remove and then Right click on the cluster and select Add host.

Tried all the steps and failed.

Tried to connect to a new virtual center and tried to connect direct to the host using vsphere client, the result is same.

I was trying to enable SSH on the host and the screen got stuck.

Very bad situation, I cannot restart the host as there are a lot of servers in production.

Can you connect to the host it self? (not ping)

Try to restart the management agents on the host not just the management network, connect to console and press "F2" and log on, go to "Troubleshooting Options" and select "Restart Management Agents".
