ESXi 5.1 iSCSI Multipathin with three Adapters

Hey guys,

is it possible to make an iSCSI Multipath with three adapters? My configuration runs great with 2 adapters. Die third adapter shows me that hes unable to connect. The adapters who runs great are connected  by a switch to a SAN. The third one is a backup channel and i connect it directly to the SAN Storage.

Where is the Problem?

Thanks!

What kind of SAN are you connecting to?  Can you post an image of your vmkernel /vswitch setup?

We got a Fujitsu DX 80 S2.

We use a single vswitch per VMkernel IP.

Are you using unique subnets for each of the 3 vmkernel ports?   Are you able to ping from ESXi to each of the 3 IPs for the SAN?

All interfaces are in the same Subnet and I'am able to ping the eternus.

If i put the third interface on the switch the VM Host will use this path too.

Are there different connection technologys betwin swich and direct attachment?

I belive the Fujitsu SAN Storage can't handle connections from both sides. So it will prefer the switch connection.

When i delete the switch connected adapters and reboot die VM Host, the LUNs will connect by direct adapter, too. 😕

I want to solve this problem, because we got only one core switch whos not redundant.
