Hi!

I've an opportunity to buy an HP ProLiant DL380 G5 with:

• N. 1 Xeon DualCore 5160 | 2x 3,0 GHz
• 2 x 72 Gb SAS HD - 10k Hotplug
• Smart Array P400
• 8 GB DDR2 RAM

Has anyone succesfully installed ESXi 5.1 or al least 5.0 on this server?

you should be able to install it successfully since it is supported hardware.

I just installed ESXi 5.1 on DL380 G5 and it works fine but note that it is not supported per HCL. It is still supported on 5.0 though.

I've purchased the server and installed customized HP ESXi 5.1 on my Proliant DL 380 G5 (Customize VMware ESXi Images for HP ProLiant Servers) and all works like a charm!
