ESXi 5.0 U1 update error on HP Proliant DL380 G7

Dear all,

I'm trying to update one of my ESXi 5.0 host (build 469512), directly from console, but update process breaks with this message:

esxcli software vib install -d /vmfs/volumes/4f6208a7-d65e8510-d33c-e83935260686/update-from-esxi5.0-5.0_update01.zip
[InstallationError]
[Errno 32] Broken pipe
vibs = VMware_locker_tools-light_5.0.0-1.11.623860

and looking at logs I find:

2012-03-16T12:08:36Z esxupdate: root: ERROR: InstallationError: ('VMware_locker_tools-light_5.0.0-1.11.623860', '[Errno 32] Broken pipe')

Any advice is appreciated, even if reading other posts seems that is better to wait that AutoStartManager issue was solved.

Did you already verify the MD5 checksum for the installation image/zip?

I have solved installing in sequence:

  • hp-esxi5.0uX-bundle-1.1-37.zip (vendor patch for CIM Provider Updates)
  • hp-nmi-esxi5.0-bundle-2.0-11 (vendor patch providing the HP NMI module)

  • ESXi500-201112001 (update to build 515841)

  • update-from-esxi5.0-5.0_update01 (update to U1)

Now doing software vib list it returns:
