I have a new system, HP rp5800, with an Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network adapter. While trying to install ESXi 5.0 the software tells me that it doesn't see the network adapter. Is there a way to add the drivers during the install, or does VMware have to incorporate the drivers in the software?
I already have ESXi 4.1 U1 running with 6 VM machines and I want to eventually move them over to the newer system.
This KB lists how to install async driver. Can you check if your drivers are listed ? if it is available then you can install it

I have the Intel S1200BTL server board with a 82579 NIC. ESXi 5 does not recognize it. Can the install image be modified to include drivers?
I understand that they didn't have a driver for 4.1 U1 but what about 5.0? Still no driver for this Intel???

Thank you rajvm256 for your response. I will attempt to add the drivers per the KB. I was informed that adding the drivers to ESXi was not an easy task and you have confirmed that.
Thank you again and wish me luck.
