ESXi 5.0.0 and UNMAP / SSD / Win2003 or Win2008 support

I want to add an SSD to my ESXi server to act as a drive to store the Host Cache Configuration.  My real concern is this:

My server is an ESX 5.0.0 build and i want to use an Intel 710 series SSD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167077)

My concern is this, the operating systems I plan to test this with are Win2003 and Win2008 (not R2 - the Vista build).  Will VMWare handle the UNMAP commands for the OS or will this just not working without the OS supporting UNMAP?

Oh, the RAID controller is a PERC H700i INTG RAID CTL NVDIMM 512MG Cache, 12HD Chassis (Dell part numbers 330-5575 330-9853 342-0999)

Correction: The RAID controller is an Adaptec 5805z running their latest firmware.

esxi should handle the unmap since the vm wont be aware of the storage type it writes to the vmdk unless you are making a RDM
