ESXi 4 using DHCP not registering the hostname

I have an ESXi 4 server build 193498 fresh installation and it's using DHCP. In the networking properties I have the FQDN entered and the DNS servers listed. The ESXi server gets an IP and DNS suffix fine but when I look in DNS the host name is not registering. I see the IP address but the host name is blank.

Is there something I am missing or are you seeing this issue as well.

I got a comment back from Vmware that states this is by design and I have to make a feature request. Why would VMware ever want to not have the hostname register in DNS using DHCP?
