ESXi 4 on Dell T410 E5504 Xeon

Hello:

I´ve installed VMWARE ESXi on a Dell T410 Server. It has 1 quad core Intel Xeon Processor (e5504) but ESXi only recognizes 2 cores. I only can use two cores in the VM.

I have a free license. May be a problem with the license? Could someone help me to fix the problem?

Thanks!

I've seen a setting in the BIOS for disabling two of the core on a quad core CPU, can you check that?

Does your server have latest BIOS?

I agree with glynnd1. The HP servers now come with the abiltiy to either use only 1 core / half the core / All cores. I suspect that the Dell's should be the same.

Glynnd was right! The BIOS was configured in "dual core" mode. I´ve changed it to "All Core" mode and VMWARE ESXi recognizes 4 cores now.

Thank you very much to all!
