ESXi 4.1 with new 10 GB NIC - VMs only showing 1 GB NIC

Hello,

Sorry about this dumb question. I recently purchased a new Server with dual 10 GB NIC cards and dual 1 GB cards.

The esx server first was connected to a 1 GB swtich. Everything work excellent.

Now we just migrated the server to a new location where I have 10 GB switches. Everything works fine.

My question is why are my VMs only connecting a 1 GB.

I checked the networking adapter and see that is listed with speeds of 10000 Full.

Sam

The VMXNET3 adapter is the only 10GB adapter available, so you must use that for your guests.  Also, in order to use the VMXNET 3 adapter your guest must have v7 hardware.

Thanks Troy. That worked for me. Now the VM is showing the Nic at 10 GB speed.

Thanks
