ESXi 4.1 host Reset system config Best practice?

Hi

I have a requirement to reset the system config of a ESXi 4.1 host, but I'm unsure as to whether its safe to do so with the host still attached to the SAN.  Is it best practice to shutdown the host and remove the fibre connections before powering up and hitting the reset?

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Community - There is no problem with reseting your ESXi host while it us attached to the SAN - I would place you host in maintenance mode which will require you to either power off the running VMs or vMotion them to other ESXi hosts before you can reset the machine -
