ESXi 4.1 Adding a thrid serial port

I'm trying to add a third serial port to one of my virtuals.

It's added to the Virtual Machine Properties and when the virtual is powered on, it says it's connected.

When I look at the device manager, it only shows 2 serial ports.  Com1 and Com2.

How can I add a third serial port to the OS?  Com3.

I'm running Win7 Pro for this virtual.

OK, it might be a good idea to explain what you are doing exactly.

Why do you need 3 serial ports?  The are antiquated and out dated.

Physical machines for many years had only 2 serial ports, and nobody complained.. people pretty much stopped using serial ports since before Clinton took office..

There are plenty of USB to serial convertors and methods for doing things that do not require serial ports, even USB ports are becoming less important since everything is networked now..

So tell me.. what are you using a serial port for?

Serial ports might be old but they are still good.

They are still commonly used in the process control industry.

Its only recently that equipment is getting changed out with ethernet communication.

I have simulation software that runs on one virtual.  I have 3 other virtuals that run software to communicate to the simlulation by serial.

I'm using the Named Pipe to connect them.
