Hi, i have been looking for a fix for my whitebox install and hoping somone
here can help me...
Here is the box:
Quadcore Q6600 2.66Ghz
Serverboard - S3000AH
Seagate 500G HDD - SATA
4G Kingston RAM
Here is the issue:
When i boot from the CD all goes fine past the splash screen install and
setting up services...
When i get to the screen and am given three options (esc) to cancel / (R) to
repair / (enter) to install... the keyboard and mouse are nonresponsive to kick
the install off....
I have:
reset bios to default,
tried another HDD,
tried another keyboard/mouse,
re downloaded and burnt ESXi...
i also cannot switch to console mode... keyboard is non reponsive to switch... yet scroll lock and caps lock will go on and off...
and now im running out of ideas... any help?? If you want more info let me
know...
What kind of install is it? Have you tried with another cd as maybe the install is hanging hence the non responsive keyboard and Mouse

this is a fresh install i have treid 2 copies of esxi 4.0 with no luck... but ESX 4.0 Update 1 installed fine until the trial run out...
Just to be sure... Is your hardware 64bit ? If not, then you are loading the wrong version of ESXi. (never mind... I looked it up, found out it was 64bit, and came back to edit my posting... BUT, you might get more help in the vSphere Community, since this is the 32 bit ESXi 3.5 thread)
Can you hit "Esc" key during the Yellow and Gray screen... or even the Loading screen prior to that. If so, you will see what it is loading, as far as drivers...
Hope this helps... Trust me... I've been stuck on my newest install for a week now... wouldn't wish this on anybody...
Check on whitebox configuration:
You can also try to install ESXi on a USB stick.
PS: moved to ESXi 4 forum
Andre
well it wont run off a USB either gets to the same point in the install and just hangs....
im guessing it comes down to hardware... but it baffels me how ESX 4 U1 runs so well on all x64 hardware and esxi is a complete no go???
I'm going to try esxi 4 now
