ESXi 4.0 esphere client --- no console, .net activex trouble

Good morning,

I decide for ESX i 4.0 yesterday... to have on a IBM x3250 -- Xeon X3360 2.83 GHz.

Consequently I took the IBM customized/whatever version of the package.

Easy Installation, everything looked good.

Now I try to boot a new OS(tryed several) in a VI and get all the time this thing:

AxHost.InvalidActiveXStateException and no console ;( ??

Can anybody give an idea...

google says something about bloody MS.net stuff...#§$%?7&%

May anybody from VMware tell me why there is no document like:

"vsphere client Software Requirements" which tells what .net version or other win plugin stuff is needed!!!

Do I need a fresh windows installtion to run ESXi, or what ? Smiley Happy

Thanks for replying...

>>Have you cinfigured your ESXi network properly?

I think so...does it need WWW access when creating new machines?

theres something pointing to a .net problem on the client here. There was .net 3.5 SP1 already on the system.

Atleast it looked so, but i got errors when I tryed to uninstall and reinstall .net 3.5 .

I'll first try to fix this and come back , after 30 restarts then...

>>Am I right, you want now install a new vm?

right now i can not really blame ESXi yet , apart from having no alternative way to get configured.

I also tryed "https://servername/ui" and got empty pages in Firefox 3.5.2 and Opera 10

What is your host OS where VC installed?

actually there is none...its just ESXi 4 installed yet.

Thought that I can build os on a blank system with ESXi??? I try to install the guest from an iso image stored on the host drive.

found a system log entry which may be the reason

failed to read disk adapter type directly...???

tryed another client system with installing MS .net 3.5 ....success!

I dont know if .net is coming with the install routine, but VMware should informe people that this fine MS product is a requirement of using ESXi 4.0 !

Even with .net 3.0 the client produces lots of errors.

thanks for responding!
