ESXi 4.0 Qualification for HP BL490c

Hi there,

We are considering a deployment of vSphere 4 on HP BL490c blades. The support matrix only mentions ESX 4.0, not ESXi Installable\Embedded. The server does support ESXi 3.5 u4.

Can anyone from VMware shed light on when this will be officially supported, if ever?

All the best,

Mark

I think the vendors are playing catchup right now. VMware's HCL changed with the release of vSphere and it is up to the hardware vendor and VMware to get their products certified.

You may want to follow up with your HP rep, they may have a time line.

Thanks for the replies, I have contacted my HP vendor to see if they can help. I found the vmware HCL, and that was how I came to the conclusion that it was not yet supported. I was hoping for some inside information like "not yet, but we have it in the lab for testing".

You can just trying to see if could work.

Or you can use VI3, if supported.

For VI3 there are also some unofficial HCL:

Did you ever get any additional information regarding the support status of the BL490 and ESXi 4.0?

I'm really surprised that it is still listed as not supported. I have 16 new BL490 blades on the way, and I'd rather use ESXi rather than the full version.

Thanks!
