ESXi 4.0.0 running on VMWare Fusion 3.0.2 will not allow conversion of a 64-bit guest

I am trying to use vCenter Converter Standalone 4.0.1 to try and convert a live Redhat Enterprise 5 64-bit machine to a VM. For testing, I have ESXi installed under Fusion on a MacBook Pro. The MacBook definitely supports 64-bit as I run 64-bit Windows Vista and 7 as VMs, including under Bootcamp.

Every time I start the Convert Machine process, Converter tells me "The destination does not support 64-bit guests."

I have follwed several different instructions for setting up ESXi on Fusion to no avail, including: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-6590

Does anyoneknow if this setup is possible and how to get it working?

Thanks in advance,

Wade

Hi,

you can't. You may only run 32-bit operating systems as the inner guest.

For more information you can check this DOC.

It's not what I wanted to hear, but that explains why it didn't work.

Thanks !
