ESXI 6.7 - How can I add a physical hard disk to a virtual machine?

Hi guys,

I just installed TrueNAS as a virtual machine in my ESXI 6.7 server. Now I should attach a fisical hard disk, already connected in my mother board, to the virtual machine. it's a classic disk for storage purposes. how can I reach my goal? is it possibile?

Hey @TurboC1000,

Yes it is possible and it is called Raw Device Mapping. Please read the following documentation to understand more and know its limitations: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.storage.doc/GUID-9E206B41-4B2D-48F0...

Also please take a look at the next article made by an user as it can be useful for you: https://gist.github.com/Hengjie/1520114890bebe8f805d337af4b3a064
