ESXI 6.5 not detect any external HDD

Hi,

We've one ESXI 6.5 updae 1 version 650.U1.10.2.0 running with 5 VM's but none of the VM's detect the external HDD, I tried with WD & Seegate external drive also updated VM tool to the latest 10.3 but no effect.

Kindly advice what is the possibility to overcome this.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Have you tried this:

Add USB Devices from an ESXi Host to a Virtual Machine

First of all, check the host detects the USB disk drive correctly or not? you can do it via the following command in the Shell/SSH access:

lsusb -vvv

Then if it's detected correctly by the host, for connecting to its VMs, you should add the USB controller before adding the USB disk in the VM settings tab. Then you will see the list of available attached USB Drives to the ESXi host in the wizard of adding new device to the VM.
