ESXI 5.1 Upgrade To 6.5 (ISSUE)

Hi All,

I'm facing issue to up-grade the ESXI software from the actual 5.1 to the last available  6.5.

I'm using both command/files for server HP or standard :

esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-6.5.0-20170404001-HP \

-d /vmfs/volumes/datastore1/ESXi-6.5.0-20170404001-HP.zip

esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-6.5.0-20170404001-standard \

-d /vmfs/volumes/datastore1/ESXi-6.5.0-20170404001-standard.zip

but the output problem is always :

[DependencyError]

Please refer to the log file for more details.

should I up-grade first to an "intermediate" version before the 6.5 ?

the actual running is :

/vmfs/volumes/530c9e20-b187a43e-f5af-2c44fd875ca0 # vmware -vl

VMware ESXi 5.1.0 build-799733

VMware ESXi 5.1.0 GA

/vmfs/volumes/530c9e20-b187a43e-f5af-2c44fd875ca0 #

thanx and Best Regards

Alessandro.

Hello Labteam,

You cannot upgrade the ESXi 5.1 to 6.5 as it is unsupported upgrade path. From ESXi 5.1, you can go to Max of 6.0 update 2 provided your hardware supports.

Thanks,

I guess you are installing ESXi on HP server, download ESXi 6.0 Update 2 ISO or latest ISO and install then upgrade 6.5.

Link for HP Custom ISO : Download VMware vSphere
