ESXI 4.0 multiple HardDisk Boot Sequence Question

Hi all,

I installed Win2008 service beginning with 1 Hard Disk which is a SATA disk, I simulated it as SCSI disk. Later on I attached a new physical disk to my machine and created a new datastore in my ESXI. In virtual machine settings, I added a new hard drive to my existing Win2008 as IDE HD. But somehow the IDE harddisk is always disk 1 and my existing disk (SCSI) becomes disk 2, no matter how I add/remove disks, and I am unable to boot my Win2008 from my SCSI disk. Everything works if I remove the new IDE disk.

Anybody has idea how can I configure the boot sequence of adjust disk sequence of multiple disks?

Thanks

Hardy

Is there a reason you are using IDE. I would just make the drive scsi.

If you need to change boot order you can change BIOS settings. Reboot the machine and make changes in the BIOS.

In BIOS the boot sequence is correct.

I made some changes to VM settings, not sure what exactly I did, but machine can boot now.
