Hi,
We have an issue at present with ESX4i on a Dell PE R710 with dual single port QLA2640 FC HBAs. The host has been restarted and the HBAs have disappeared form the list of Storage Devices under Host.Configuration. The HBAs are correctly seated, cabled and listed during POST. They were previously listed, working and providing access to a FC SAN. Reboots and rescans have not helped.
Any pointers or similar experience would be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to find any errors in the vmkernel log?

Do you have a system or PCI card working with VMDirectPath? Submit your specs to the Unofficial VMDirectPath HCL.
There are many entries in the logs, with no references to text "qla" in the hostd, messages or vCenter agent logs. There is one message in the messages log containing text "qlogic" but not at all helpful in resolving the problem.
The Qlogic adapters are seen by the hw as reference to then is displayed during post, furthermore access to the hba BIOS during post is possible. It is ESXi only that cannot see the devices.
Re-install ESXi?

A repair might be the quickest way to fix it. If you have console access you could also run lspci / lspci -p to see if ESXi is able to see the devices and if a driver is loaded for the card.
