ESX4.0 lost connection and not able to reconnect to the same server

Three virtual machines got stuck on one of my ESX 4.0 server, was not able to shut down the same so I restarted the vmware management service command for the same .

#/etc/init.d/mgmt-vmware restart ; chkconfig mgmt-vmware on

Now I have lost connection to my ESX 4.0 server and when I m trying to reconnect it gives me error of “time out”

What should I do to fix the error?

Regards

v

I know the article is for esx 3.5 but it might be worth having a look at VMware KB Article: 1005566

Disconnect the Host from VC, and remove it.

restart the management agents and try re-add the host.

If this fails, stop the mgmt agents agin, run the uninstallers at /opt/vmware/uninstallers

Restart all services and add to VC

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
