ESX to VC communication problem if the ESX is in DMZ

Hi,

i added new ESX to VC, the ESX is in DMZ zone.i have problem, the changes made ESX are not reflecting on the VC and even i try to make any changes on ESX through VC console its taking very long time and faling, and sometimes in progress status will be on the VC console for long more than 4-5hrs.

Please help from the below link which are ports are responsible for proper communication between ESX and VC, so i can open ports in firewall.

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=101238... 4.x

My details : VC 4 and esx 4.

Thanks andRegards,

Shirish

there are list of ports you will need depending on the features required. the most basics would be opening 443 and then 902 and 903. but for a full list to open i would suggest going to the link you mentioned or the URL provided below.

look for source esx and target esx and then vcenter source then target as esx and vcenter. that would pretty cover much of it.

hi shirish,

allow IP what ever you put in DMZ, 1st try to Check you able to open ESX host throug URL or you Brose Datasotre if yes then no need to required changes in firewall. if u unable to Brose then u should open port acordingly what ever you want. i recommended port 443 iut's Secure... best luck

Thanks
