ESX time synchronization with Windows server?

Hi,

I have setup in which my ESX hosts don't have access to public network (they are reachable only from vCenter over internal IPs). I would like to synchronize them with vCenter server itself (which is Windows 2008 R2). First what I did was to setup timesource of vCenter to point to internet NTP server, and then synchronize ESX hosts, but it does not seem to work. Then I found this and i followed up these steps, but still have time issues on ESX hosts.

Is it even possible to synchronize ESX with standalone Windows 2008 R2 server?

Thx in advance for any tips.

You should setup NTP server for ESXes. Google for "freeware NTP server Windows"

You need a system acting as an NTP server. In a Windows domain this could be the domain controller. You could also configure a router or switch, which gets synchronized with a reliable time source as well.

ok, thanks. But if I don't have domain, can't I use this vCenter server itself to setup as ntp server without 3rd party tools?
