ESX drops connection

Has anyone seen this

ESX host has 2 nic's

Both nics team on vSwitch0

there is a port channel created going to thoes ports with acces to vlan X (service console vlan). As soon as i add a second vlan (to run vm's on) to the port channel the esx host drops connection. coneection doesnt come back until host is rebooted. I have tried restarting the mgmt service mgmt-vmware restat and host is still down

It seems as though you are using your management port to host VM's. That's not a problem, except if you have problems like now, you have to reboot. I would separate the 2 nics, make one vSwitch0 and the other vSwitch2 (or whatever) to host the VM's.

Then isolate the problem with the vLAN at least you don't have to keep rebooting the host.

i built the esx host

added the second nic to team on vswitch0 with vlan access to x

went to properties on vswitch0

click add vm port group

put a network label on the PG and alsogave it VLAN ID Y

created the trunk,port channel with access to vlan x and y

once i save the config on switch esx host goes down

Look at the configuration of the NIC Teaming in the vSwitch. The Load Balancing configuration should be the same in the vSwitch and in the port-channel configuration in your physical switch.

its set to port id on the vswitch
